Includes descriptions of their appearances, activities, and history, drawing attention to any special features. Written by Charles Bernard Mortlock, an English rector, a canon, a connoisseur of art, architecture and antiques, and a journalist in archaeology. Illustrated by Donald Maxwell, an English writer and illustrator. From the library of Sir Ambrose Heal, an English furniture designer and businessman who served as the chairman of Heal's, a British furniture and homeware retail company, (then called Heal & Son) from 1913 to 1953.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear and fading to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with loss to the front and rear panels. Minor sunning to the spine with the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light age toning to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
