What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
Four first edition works published by Faber and Faber.
All bound in the publisher's original cloth, apart from 'Homage to Sextus Propertius', which is in the publisher's paper-covered boards.
Comprised of the following:
'Homage to Sextus Propertius' (1934), written by Ezra Pound. In this work, Pound comments on the British Empire in 1917, using the figure of Propertius, a Latin elegiac poet around in the Augustan age.
'The Cocktail Party' (1950), by T. S. Eliot. Eliot's most successful play, this focuses on a troubled married couple who try and sort out their relationship issues thanks to the help of a mysterious stranger.
'Poetry and Drama' (1951), a lecture delivered at Harvard University in November 1950, addressing Eliot's literary output and style.
'The Confidential Clerk' (1954), a successful play by T. S. Eliot in which a wealthy entrepreneur attempts to smuggle his illegitimate son into his household under the pretence of acting as his "confidential clerk".
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original cloth, apart from 'Homage to Sextus Propertius' which is in the publisher's hardback binding. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark. Fading to 'poetry and drama' and the spine of 'The Cocktail Party'. Light spotting and the odd ink inscription to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot, heavier to 'The Confidential Clerk'.
