What Our Customers Say...
Description
Folding Maps, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding
First cheap edition. Illustrated with eight folding maps, two plates, and twelve in-text plans. Collated complete. An authoritative history of the conquest of the Sudan between 1896 and 1899 by Anglo-Egyptian forces led by Lord Kitchener. With a new introduction for this edition. Originally written with accounts of Churchill's own experiences as a British Army officer during the war, and his views on its conduct, the work was revised when Churchill became a member of parliament in 1902. It was thought that the commentary about some of the people mentioned had better be excised in a revised edition. Written by Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, a British statesman, military officer, and writer who twice served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Condition
