A poetic celebration of English fruits and desserts, accompanied by a few notes on wine. Written by Edward A. Bunyan, an English food writer and apple enthusiast. His books and descriptions of apples are still used today by heritage apple growers and people appreciative of old apple varieties.
Edward A. Bunyard (1878–1939) was a British pomologist, wine merchant, and eccentric gastronome known for his passionate and literary writings on fruit and wine.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Slight trace of circular damp stain, likely from a cup, to front board. Bookplate from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique" to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper, smart. Tape reinforcements to inner extremities. The odd slight handling mark to wraps. Slight soiling. Slight damp stain to front wrap. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in the odd very small closed tear at head and tail of spine. Age toning to spine. Very slight offsetting to half-title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
