Illustrated with a frontispiece, thirty-four plates, eight facsimiles of documents, and fifteen maps and plans. Collated complete. A panegyric biography about John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, a British army officer and statesman to whom Churchill was a lineal descendant. This volume covers the period from his birth in 1650 to the reformation of the Grand Alliance in 1701. In the preface to this volume, Churchill writes "It is my hope to recall this great shade from the past, and not only invest him with his panoply, but make him living and intimate to modern eyes." Written by Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, a British statesman, military officer, and writer who twice served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout with minor age toning to the endpapers.
