Early Edition, Original Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce example of this publication, in original pink paper binding.
First published in 1868, Joseph Whitaker's Almanack was an annual and varied periodical that has run in various forms until the 2020s.
Whitaker's influential publications were prominent enough in everyday 19th Century life to make appearances in both Bram Stoker's 1897 novel 'Dracula', and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1915 title 'The Valley of Fear', amongst several other literary features.
Featuring 95 pages of advertisements to the rear of the book.
Condition
Bound in pink paper. Externally, smart. Loss to paper to front cover - corresponding piece slipped inside front cover. Sunning to covers and spine. Chipping to spine, and the odd mark to covers. Adverts printed on endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Text block edges age toned, but pages otherwise bright and clean, with occasional creases, marks and chipping. Some leaves unopened.
