The first edition, first impression of each of these three volumes, each in the publisher’s original dust wrapper, with two volumes unclipped, but with LII-LXXI dust wrapper clipped, but retaining the price.

Present here are:

The 1933 first edition, first impression of ‘A Draft of XXX Cantos’.

The 1935 first UK edition, first impression of ‘A Draft of Cantos XXXI-XLI’. First published in New York in October 1934 as ‘Eleven New Cantos’, the English edition was published under this altered title on 14 March 1935. 1,500 copies were printed, of which 300 were destroyed in the bombing during the Second World War.

The 1940 first edition, first impression of ‘Cantos LII-LXXI’, one of 1,000 copies produced.

An excellent collection of Pound’s long modernist poem, which extended to 109 canonical sections in addition to a number of drafts and fragments, written between 1915 and 1962.

With light, neat, pencil notations and annotations throughout each volume.

Condition

In the publisher’s original cloth bindings, with two dust wrappers unclipped, and one clipped but retaining the price. Bump to back strip head of XXXI-XLI, with fading to back strip tail of LXXI. Otherwise, externally excellent. Inscription to two front free endpapers. Significant losses to back strip head and tail, and front wrap head of XXX, with amateur paper restorations to dust wrapper reverse, and with back strip age toned. LII-LXXI back strip age toned, with small losses to back strip head and tail, with significant handing marks to wraps. XXXI-XLI back strip age toned, with small losses to head and tail, and minor tide mark to centre of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright. Neat faint pencil annotations to a number of leaves of each volume.
