What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

A complete three-volume set of Churchill's illustrated study of World War I, originally published in twenty six fortnightly parts and titled 'The World in Crisis'.

This is the first illustrated edition in book form.

In the publisher's deluxe half morocco binding, with cloth boards and decorative gilt to the spines.

Offering a tremendous account of the events leading up to the war, the war itself and the period following the war, including major battles, Churchill's reorganisation of the Royal Navy and the Irish Troubles. The work, in some parts, serves as a justification of his role in the war, with Churchill himself denying it as a history, but rather "a contribution to history of which note should be taken together with other accounts."

All three volumes are richly illustrated throughout the text with photographs, drawings and maps.

Condition

In the original half morocco binding, with cloth boards and decorative gilt to the spines. Second volume has different numerical stamp to the spine. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to the extremities and a couple damp spots and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light spotting to the endpapers.
