'The Night Before Christmas' is the name the poem 'A Visit From St. Nicholas' is more commonly known, a poem first published anonymously in 1823.
In the original unclipped dust wrapper.
The poem is set on the night of Christmas Eve, when a family is woken up by Santa Claus. Clement Clarke Moore's depiction of Father Christmas in this work is largely responsible for many of the modern day conceptions of the character, including his naming of each of Santa's reindeers.
This edition, published in June 1932, has vivid illustrations by Arthur Rackham, including a colour frontispiece, and three colour plates.

Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light fading to the spine. Only a couple of very light marks to the boards. Dust wrapper is edge worn with loss to the head of the wraps, heavier to the rear wrap, and some further smaller chips and closed tears, with a few neat tape repairs to the reverse. Light handling marks to the dust wrapper. Spots to the reverse of the dust wrapper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
