This is a thorough history of the Welch Regiment, active between 1881 and 1969 when it was combined with the South Wales Borderers to form the Royal Regiment of Wales.
Compiled and published shortly after the First World War, the volume traces the regiment’s development from its formation in the seventeenth century through its key campaigns, including the Napoleonic Wars, Crimean War, Boer War, and particularly its heroic service during the Great War (1914–1918).
Condition
In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in very minor loss to cloth. Spine slightly faded. One or two very minor handling marks. Previous owner's contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places but holding. Pages bright and clean with the odd light spot to fore edge, and scattered spotting to first and last few leaves.
