Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

First edition. A vanishingly scarce work. Illustrated with a frontispiece, six plates, and eight in-text images. Collated complete. A delightful interwar guidebook in which Bigge leads readers through hidden squares, forgotten alleys, old churches, taverns, and tucked-away gardens in a conversational yet well-researched style. The “secret” places that shape London’s character with folklore, architectural notes, and social history.  Written by Maud Bigge, a British author. With eight leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
