An anthology of Border ballads, being a collection of songs hailing from the Anglo-Scottish border region. As with traditional ballads, these were typically sung unaccompanied. Compiled by Sir Walter Scott in a collection published in 1812, containing ballads from a variety of authors and sources.

With three sections, 'Historical Ballads', 'Romantic Ballads' and 'Imitations of the Ancient Ballads', including the well-known songs of "Sir Patrick Spens", "The Sang of the Outlaw Murray", "Proud Lady Margaret" and many others. Illustrated with a frontispiece to Volume I.
