In the original cloth binding. 

This gripping volume details the ascent of Kamet, led by English mountaineer Francis Sydney Smythe, with Eric Shipton, R. L. Holdsworth and Lewa Sherpa. Kamet was the first summit over 25,000 ft (7,620 m) to be climbed, and was the highest summit reached until the first ascent of Nanda Devi five years later.

Smythe is best remembered for his mountaineering in the Alps as well as in the Himalayas, with his other discovered route including the Brenva Face of Mont Blanc.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, forty-eight plates, a full-page map, and a folding map to the rear. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with mild bumping to the extremities, most noticeable to the spine head and tail. A couple minor marks to the boards. Front hinge is tender in places. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spots to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
