This work was features a collection of essays by Samuel Butler, the noted English novelist, with many being autobiographical. A selection of previously unpublished papers from the six volumes of manuscripts left by Butler at his death. With a preface and bio-bibliographical statement by A.T. Bartholomew.

In the publisher's original quarter crushed morocco with marbled boards. Externally lovely. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages.
