This two-volume set is a meticulously compiled reference work that traces and indexes over a thousand documented allusions, quotations, and echoes of the works of William Shakespeare from the period roughly from 1591 when Shakespeare’s plays were first circulating, through to 1700.
Clement Mansfield Ingleby (1823–1886) was a prominent Victorian Shakespearean scholar, noted for his work on textual criticism, authorship questions, and the early biographical record of the playwright.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight fading to spines. Slight fading and spotting to extremities. Offsetting and the odd spot to endpapers. The odd slight handling mark to boards, One or two spots of damp staining to the front board of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots, heavier to fore edge and first and last few leaves.
