First edition. Very scarce edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and nine images across seven plates, with two folding maps to the pocket at the rear of the text. Collated complete. A detailed account and study of the Battles of Bidassoa and Nivelle during the Peninsular War, lead by Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, a British Army officer and statesman who was one of the leading military and political figures in Britain during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Written by Major-General F. C. Beatson, a British army officer who later wrote several books about the Napoleonic Wars.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
