Pogany was a renowned Hungarian illustrator, best known for his artwork of myths and fables, and for his distinct Art Nouveau style. A pseudo-translated poem by Richard Francis Burton, under the pseudonym of Haji Abdu El-Yezdi. 'The Kasidah' is a long poem, exploring Sufi philosophy, a branch of mystic thought found in Islam. Richard Francis Burton was a British explorer, writer and orientalist scholar. He is best known for his documented journey to Mecca, disguised as a Muslim during a time when non-Muslims were strictly forbidden. With an introduction by Dhan Gopal Mukerji, the first successful Indian man of letters.
