A pair of historical works written by Harold Lamb on the subject of the crusades.

A very popular series, this two-volume history led to his discovery by Cecil B. DeMille, who employed Lamb as a technical advisor on his film 'The Crusades'.

Comprised of 'Iron Men & Saints' and 'The Flame of Islam', which provide a thrilling history of this particular period, with themes of chivalry and feuding.

With 14 illustrations and a frontispiece to 'Iron Men & Saints', and 19 illustrations, a frontispiece and 4 maps to 'The Flame of Islam'. Collated, complete.  

Ink notation to the front endpaper.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's red cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very good, with light bumping and a little fading to the extremities and spine, fading heavier to 'Flame of Islam'. The odd mark to cloth. Ink note to front endpaper. Dust wrapper's are sound, with chipping and loss to the extremities, and a few closed tears. Light soiling to wraps, with tape repair to the verso. Tape adhering plastic cover to the front paste down of 'Flame of Islam'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a few spots, heavier to the front.
