The Naval History Society (the American equivalent of the British 'Navy Records Society) has over the years published many important naval works, published in fine handsome bindings and on good quality paper. Caspar Frederick Goodrich was an admiral of the United States Navy who served in the Spanish–American War and World War I, and also acted as the president of the Naval History Society from 1912 to 1916. With publisher's advertisements to the rear of the text. This copy is numbered 'No. 345', of five hundred copies, printed for the Naval History Society only. Collated, complete with four photographic plates, including a portrait frontispiece of Goodrich.
Condition
In a quarter imitation vellum paper binding with paper covered boards, and gilt logo of the Naval History Society to the front board. Externally, lovely with minor shelfwear to extremities and head and tail of spines. Slight marking to spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean throughout. Slight marking to upper extremity of plate facing page 46.
