First edition. Limited to seven hundred and fifty copies. With the vanishingly scarce original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, three colour plates, and four colour head and tail pieces. Collated complete. A detailed commentary on important racecourses and hunting fields, with sections on The Doncaster St. Leger and Melton in 1830, including lists of starters and placing. Written by Sir Francis Hastings Charles Doyle, a British poet, and Ralph Bernal Osborne, a British Liberal politician. Edited with an introduction by Samuel Joseph Looker, an English writer. Illustrated by Lesley Blanch, a British artist and illustrator.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light wear and fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with chipping and the odd closed tear to the extremities. Sunning to the spine with marks to the panels. Loss to the spine and rear panel. Large tears to the tail of the spine and rear panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Light tide marks to the rear endpapers.
