This novel forms the second part of a family saga by Hugh Walpole titled The Herries Chronicles which follows an English family's changes in fortune over two centuries. A tumultuous work of historical fiction, Judith Paris features noteworthy descriptions of the Lake District, as well as of Paris during the French Revolution.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding. Externally, book is generally smart with good colour and minimal dulling to cloth at the spine. The odd mark to the boards, including a small white paint stain on front board towards bottom corner. Slight bumping to the tail of the spine and some bumping to the corners, in the latter's case resulting in slight loss of cloth. Hinges tender. Internally, pages generally bright and clean with spotting slightly heavier at endpapers. Folding map and folding family tree diagram present and generally bright with light spotting. Tidemark present on fore edge of folding family tree diagram, not impacting readability. Spare spine label tipped in at rear of work.
