The first edition of this work. Containing a selection from the poetical works of Rudyard Kipling, including 'To the City of Bombay,' 'The Native-Born' and 'Christmas in India' among others.
Decorated with stunning coloured plates and line drawings by Donald Maxwell.
Added gilt embossing to front board from Forest School, with prize bookplate to front free endpaper awarded to Suffolk artist Hugh W. F. Fuller in 1941 for summer term. With two additional pass certificates for the Royal Drawings Society for Hugh W. F. Fuller (aged 10) in 1943.
Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding, gilt to spine and front board. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine, rear board lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Minor light spotting to first few leaves, otherwise pages bright and clean.
