    The first edition of the 1931-2 issues of the Chums magazine, last year the magazine saw a weekly publication. After July 1932, its publishing was reduced to monthly issues, and it became an annual publication in 1934. 

    This magazine was a boys' weekly newspaper founded in 1892 by Cassell and Company and published by the Amalgamated Press after 1927. A very sought-after boys' paper due to its bright red pictorial covers. 

    Containing serial storeies and series of short stories including 'Barracuda' by Paul Corydon, 'From Out the Ether' by L. C. Douthwaite and Eric MacDonald, and 'Wings of Doom' by George E. Rochester; long and short complete stories by various authors, including G. Clabon, Robert Harding, Eric Townsend, and Harcourt Parsons among others; A selection of articles on various topics including cricket, explorers, hunting, ships, and others; music and poetry; and photographic pages.

    A remarkable work of reference in brilliant condition, as uncommonly found. 

    Illustrated with eleven coloured plates, of which one folding, and various other illustrations in text, as well as a colour folding frontispiece. Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's full pictorial cloth binding. Externally very smart with some shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, light marking to the front board. The spine and boards present only a hint of fading. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally very clan with a touch of browning, as usual. Illustrated with eleven coloured plates, of which one folding, and numerous illustrations in text, including the colour folding frontispiece. With a closed tear to the frontispiece. Collated, complete.
