Description

Early Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Six brilliant works from the esteemed Irish writer, often considered a second only to Shakespeare.

Included are two philosophical critiques: What I Really Wrote About the War, printed in 1931, and Essays in Fabian Socialism, printed in 1932; as well as a collection of fourteen plays: Unpleasant, Widowers' House, The Philanderer, and Mrs. Warren's Professions, a 1934 reprint; Three Plays for Puritans, The Devil's Disciple, Caesar and Cleopatra, and Captain Brassbound's Conversion, a 1934 reprint; The Simpleton, The Six, and The Millionaires, the first 1936 standard edition; The Doctor's Dilemma, Getting Married, and the Shewing-Up of Blanco Posnet, a 1937 reprint.

In the publisher's original red cloth, in the original unclipped dust wrappers. All standard editions.

Despite having an inconsistent education during his childhood, Shaw is credited as one of the great literary figures of the 20th century, praised for his wit and genius. The works in this set include Shaw's first financially successful play, The Devil's Disciple, as well as many of his other earlier plays, including his very first, the Widowers' House.
