Two plays from John Webster, an English Jacobean dramatist best known for his tragedies, which are often seen as masterpieces of the early seventeenth-century English stage. Being 'The Duchess of Malfi', a Jacobean revenge tragedy loosely based on events that occurred between 1508 and 1513 surrounding Giovanna d'Aragona, Duchess of Amalfi, and 'The White Devil' based on an event in Italy thirty years prior to the play's composition: the murder of Vittoria Accoramboni in Padua. Illustrated by Henry Keen, a British book illustrator, lithographer, and printmaker of the Beardsley tradition.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Minor age toning to the extremities.
