Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth.

A smart copy of this interesting work collecting together the advertisements used in the original parts of novels by Charles Dickens. The aim of this work was to reproduce some of the more entertaining adverts present in Dickens' monthly installments of his novels, giving insight into future historians to understand everyday life during this period.

Written by Bernard Darwin, the grandson of Charles Darwin and great admirer of Charles Dickens, becoming known as an academic authority on all things Dickens, often writing articles on the subject and being chosen to write a foreword for reprints.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, very smart, with a little rubbing to the extremities and some fading to the spine. A bump to the head of the rear board and to the head of the spine, causing a little loss to cloth. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
