'The Apes of God' is set in 1926, leading up to the General Strike in May. The story follows a young simpleton named Dan Boleyn as he travels through the London art world.
In this novel, Lewis offers a satirical view of the contemporary literary and artistic scene in London, featuring satrisiations of James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Gertrude Stein, the Sitwell Family, Lytton Strachey, and more.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with some light marks to the boards and spine. Spine is a little discoloured. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Red mark to the fore edge. Dust wrapper has a large chip to the head of the spine, a smaller chip to the head of the rear wrap, and with lighter edge wear to the extremities. Wraps are lightly age-toned with some light spots and handling marks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
