In quarter calf, with a frontispiece titled 'Capital from the Portico of the Propylaea'. Numerous in-text illustrations throughout, with the second half of the book containing plates of the Acropolis, Parthenon, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheum. All photographed by German artist Walter Hege. Collated complete.
A scholarly study that praises the glorious architecture of Ancient Athens, Rodenwalt and Hege use photography as a means of capturing the beautiful grandeur that cannot be attained by a painter.
