Condition

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding. Externally, damp staining and two noticeable old ink stains to the front board. Some marking and dulling to colour on the back board. Some bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with cloth just beginning to split at the front joint towards the head and also at the tail. Bumping to the bottom edge and corners resulting in some loss of blue paper cover. Minor crushing to one area of the fore edge. Rear hinge is slightly more tender than the front hinge with minor loss of the pastedown in one area revealing cloth beneath. Minor close tear to the top edge of the front first free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages; only light spotting and toning throughout. This assessment extends to the fold out map and fold out family tree diagram at the rear, to which there is light spotting and toning, not impacting text. Second and third free blanks at the rear have been cut out. Spare spine label tipped in at rear of work.
