Edition limited to One Thousand and Fifty Copies for England, of which this is No. 214. Jorrocks, with his vulgarity and good-natured artfulness, was a great success with the public and Surtees produced more Jorrocks novels in the same vein, notably Hillingdon Hall. Contains 16 illustrated plates and many more illustrations throughout. Includes an introduction from Siegfried Sassoon, who mentions Surtees' novels several times in his autobiography, Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man.

Condition

In a cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with marks to front and rear boards and sunning to spine. Bumping to head and tail of spine. Front hinge slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound with some spotting to front and rear pastedown, otherwise pages bright and clean.
