First edition, second impression. With the change to page 157, without the line 'The Child She Bare' as printed in the true first. The autobiography of Captain Robert von Ranke Graves, an English poet, soldier, historical novelist and critic who, like his father Alfred Percival Graves, was a Celticist and student of Irish mythology. Graves produced more than one hundred and forty works in his lifetime, with his speculative study of poetic inspiration The White Goddess having never been out of print.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with marks to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with spotting to the fore-edge and endpapers. Minor age toning to the extremities.
