A charming work by Cecil Aldin, in which he discusses the various canine models he has used throughout his career, a lovely work for dog lovers.
Aldin says that his workshop "is more like a dog-kennel than a portrait-painter's studio". His charming illustrations of animals, sports, and rural scenes contributed to many different publications ensured that Aldin was one of the most popular book illustrators of his time.
Condition
In the original publisher's vellum binding, in the original slipcase. Externally, smart. A couple of very light spots to the boards, as is usual with vellum. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Slipcase is a little worn, with a small amount of loss to the spine. Light age-toning and marks to the slipcase. Slipcase is in a very good condition.
