Limited edition of two hundred and fifty copies, of which this is number ninety seven. With colophon to rear of the work, stating it was produced on mould made paper.

With twenty one tissues guarded monochrome aquatints. Collated, complete.

The stunning Cresset Press edition of what is considered to be Gogol's greatest short story, enriched with aquatints by noted Russian artist and film maker Alexandre Alexeieff. Alexeieff is credit as inventing the pinscreen technique, which he later used to make six short films.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with slight shelf wear to the extremities. The odd handling mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fore edge roughly cut.
