Description

Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Popular edition, second impression. Following Alan Quartermain as a young man in his first married to the Boer farm girl Marie Marais. While becoming involved with the Sixth Xhosa War of 1835, Alan must deal with Marie's anti-English father, who opposes their romance, and her villainous cousin Hernan Pereira, who desires Marie. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and minor chipping. Light loss to the head of the spine and rear board. The odd small closed tear to the extremities with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light scattered spotting to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
