In the publisher's original cream cloth, with decorative green urn and red flame printed by The Curwen Press.

With thirty illustrations by Jacquier, including a coloured frontispiece. Coloured stencilling by The Curwen Press. Collated, complete.

'Graziella' was originally published in 1852 and tells a semi-autobiographical tale of a young French man who falls for a fisherman's granddaughter during a trip to Naples. The novel, which was written by French author Alphonse de Lamartine, was originally written as a journal and was inspired by his experiences with a tobacco-leaf folder while in Naples in the early 1810s.

This edition is translated by Ralph Wright.

Condition

In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart indeed, with minor discolouration to the spine title label. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with one or two spots.
