1929 First Report: The Control of Traffic on Roads
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
Very scarce work. Written for the Royal Commission on Transport, which held meetings between 18th October 1928 and 19th December 1930. The Commission published three reports: "The Control of Traffic on Roads"; "The Licensing and Regulation of Public Service Vehicles", and "The Co-ordination and Development of Transport." This is the first report, on the control of traffic on roads, discussing legislation, accidents, dangerous driving, drunkenness when in charge of a car, road signs, driving tests, and more. The Royal Commission on Transport is looked back on as a flawed document reflecting the situation at the time and some notions of how road transport would develop. Most ideas never materialized, although some of its recommendations stuck, such as compulsory insurance and a Highway Code.
