This work displays a series of late 18th century paintings from English portrait and landscape painter Francis Wheatley, which depict London street traders and hawkers calling out their wares.
This edition presents the full set of images, accompanied by descriptive notes and commentary by Rayner, which explain the historical background, costumes, and everyday trades represented.
Illustrated with sixteen tipped in plates, fourteen of which are in colour. Collated, complete.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloth backed, paper covered boards. Tide mark to fore edge of rear board, with light tide mark towards head of front board. Front board lightly cocked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
