First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
Two first editions from A. A. Milne, the English author best known for the beloved children's character Winnie-the-Pooh.
The first of these is the 1929 first edition, first impression of Milne's 'Toad of Toad Hall', a dramatization of Kenneth Grahame's 1908 children's novel, 'The Wind in the Willows', focusing on the adventures of Mr Toad.
With eight pages of advertisements to the rear.
The second work is the 1946 first edition, first impression of 'Chloe Marr', a comedy novel set during the Interwar period, in which a celebrated Mayfair society beauty plays off her many suitors against each other but nurses a deep secret.
In the publisher's original price clipped dust wrapper.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with clipped dust wrapper to 'Marr'. A touch of fading to front board and back strip head of 'Marr', and further fading to head of 'Toad'. Spotting to dust wrapper, with edgewear to head of 'Marr' back strip, and tape repairs to dust wrapper reverse at back strip head and tail and head and tail of front wrap. Spotting to text block fore edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
