A scarce facsimile edition reproducing the original text of the First Folio of The Tempest by William Shakespeare, in the rare dust wrapper, unclipped. An undated copy, dated from Jisc 1928.
With an introduction by J. Dover Wilson and a list of modern readings to the rear.
The Tempest is a popular comedy by William Shakespeare, written around 1610-11 and listed in the First Folio as one of his comedies, although it deals with both tragic and comic themes, including magic, betrayal, revenge, and family among others.
This volume is complete with its First Folio Line-Indicator loosely inserted.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over paper covered boards. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some chipping to the extremities as well as a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The dust wrapper is rather worn with some shelf wear and chippings throughout as well as minor losses to the wraps and spine and the odd closed tear. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Complete with its First Folio Line-Indicator loosely inserted.
