First edition. Illustrated with sixteen colour plates. Collated complete. A description of five of the poems of Nizami Ganjavi, a renowned Persian romantic epic poet. Writing in the twelfth-century, Nizami is considered the greatest romantic epic poet in Persian literature, who brought a colloquial and realistic style to the Persian epic. With additional discussions of his life and Persian painting. Written by Robert Laurence Binyon, an English poet, dramatist and art scholar. Previously held in the library of specialist bookbinder Eric Sweet.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear and fading to the extremities. The odd small mark to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light age toning to the endpapers with previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
