An account of the life of Charles Montagu Doughty, a British poet, writer, explorer, adventurer and traveller, best known for his two-volume 1888 travel book Travels in Arabia Deserta. This work became a kind of touchstone of ambitious travel writing, and when T. E. Lawrence rediscovered and republished in the 1920s he contributed an admiring introduction of his own. Written by David George Hogarth, known as D. G. Hogarth, a British orientalist archaeologist and scholar associated with T. E. Lawrence and Arthur Evans.
