The first UK edition, first impression, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.
'Strange Interlude' was an experimental play in nine acts, written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill. It won the award for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1928, and is recognised for its extensive use of soliloquy.
The plot surrounds Nina Leeds in her quest for love and marriage after her fiance is killed in World War I.
With themes of mental illness, abortion and female sexual affairs, this play was considered to be rather controversial at the time of publication, leading to a censorship in many cities outside New York.
With a contemporary owner's inscription to the front free endpaper, dated Oct 3 1928.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper back strip lightly age toned, with light tide mark to fore edge of front wrap. Minor loss of paper to back strip tail, with minor closed tears to back strip head. Small closed tear to tail of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
