What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
First edition.
Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper.
'Strange Interlude' was an experimental play in nine acts, written by American playwright Eugene O'Neill. It won the award for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1928, and is recognised for its extensive use of soliloquy, showing the characters speaking their inner thoughts directly to the audience.
The plot surrounds Nina Leeds in her quest for love and marriage after her fiance is killed in World War I.
With themes of mental illness, abortion and female sexual affairs, this play was considered to be rather controversial at the time of publication, leading to a censorship in many cities outside New York.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light marking to cloth and a little bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is strained, but holding generally firm. Dust wrapper has separated into two pieces, with tears along the length of each joint. Loss to the backstrip tail with a few further small chips to the extremities. Panels remain bright, with just the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, and a little age toned.
