What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Uncommon
An uncommon first edition copy of this 1928 publication, bound in its original pictorial boards.
Beautifully illustrated with both frequent vignette illustrations, and 9 vividly-coloured plates, created by author, Cicely Mary Barker, who is known for her popular illustration series 'The Flower Fairies'.
An influential artist from a young age, Barker was, at one time, the youngest member ever of the Croydon Art Society, and often produced work deeply influenced by her Christian faith.
This copy also features illustrated endpapers, printed in red and green.
This copy is missing the frontispiece, the coloured plates belonging to p.24 and p.41 have been removed. The monochrome vignette illustrations, on approximately 3 pages, have been neatly coloured in with colouring pencils.
