French civil servant, diplomat and minister Edouard De Sercey's account of his time in Iran in the mid nineteenth century.
Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, and with a folding map to the rear. Collated, complete.
With the bookplate of F. Diba to the front pastedown. Diba published a bibliography of Persia in 1981.
The second edition in book form; the text had initially appeared in the March and May 1854 issues of 'La Revue Contemporaine'.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper wraps. Light handling marks to wraps. Minor loss of paper to back strip tail, with chip to tail of rear wrap. Paper label residue to tail of rear wrap. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Majority of leaves unopened to either head or fore edge.
