This volume is a first edition, and the fourth volume in a celebrated series showcasing medieval and Renaissance manuscript decoration through high-quality plate reproductions.

This volume contains fifty loose black-and-white plates, reproductions of miniatures, borders, and initials, accompanied by a descriptive 38-page booklet. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth portfolio, with paper boards. Externally, very smart. Spine slightly faded. Very slight rubbing and bumping to extremities and boards, with one or two slight handling marks. Joints ever so slightly cracked, but firm. Slipcase, generally smart. Slight fading and rubbing and bumping to extremities. The odd slight handling mark to boards, with rubbing causing slight loss to paper. Upper edge of the slipcase missing. Lower joints at the tail of the spine are cracked but structurally sound. Spine label age toned with one small chip. Spine label slightly age toned. Internally, loose plates and booklet bright and clean, if slightly age toned with one or two spots to fore edges. Very minor chip to fore edge of first page.
