Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Three volumes. First edition. Written by Sir Hugh Seymour Walpole, an English novelist. He was a best-selling author in the 1920s and 1930s with his skill at scene-setting and vivid plots, as well as his high profile as a lecturer, bringing him a large readership in the United Kingdom and North America. This set contains: Wintersmoon, 1928. A romance novel which pits two rival couples against each other one representing modernity and the other traditionalism with the latter ultimately triumphing. John Cornelius: His Life and Adventures, 1937. A chronicle of the tumultuous and colorful journey of John Cornelius, a character whose adventures and misadventures ingeniously capture the ideals of the era while reflecting on the universal themes of ambition, identity, and the struggle against societal confines. The Bright Pavilions, 1940. With a folding family tree to the rear. Collated complete. A historical romance novel giving fans of the Herries family a glimpse into their life before Francis Herries’ move to the idyllic Lake District. Written after the release of the four Herries Chronicles novels, this prequel adds a new layer to the period drama.
