What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Limited Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Signed, With Dustwrapper

First US edition. Limited to twelve hundred and forty copies signed by the author, of which this is number five hundred and seventy. With the vanishingly scarce original glassine wrapper. A short play, written in the author's later life and set in Whitehall in 1599. The play contains "some snatches of Elizabethan idiom" featuring Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth, and Richard Burbage as characters. Written by George Augustus Moore, an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, art critic, memoirist and dramatist. As a naturalistic writer, he was amongst the first English-language authors to absorb the lessons of the French realists, and was particularly influenced by the works of Emile Zola.

Condition

In the original paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities and very light sunning to the spine. Original glassine wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities resulting in light loss. The odd small crease with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
