Edited and with essays on 'Burns's Life, Genius, and Achievement' by W. E. Henley, and with an introduction from novelist John Buchan.
Illustrated with ten plates to volume I, including a folding facsimile plate; sixteen plates to volume II, including one folding plate and one double page plate; six plates to volume III; eleven plates to volume IV; nine plates to volume V; five plates to volume VI, two of which are folding facsimiles; three plates to volume VII; three plates to volume VIII, including a double page plate; three plates to volume IX, and three plates to volume X.
Collated, complete.
A truly lovely set collecting together the poetry, miscellaneous writings and letters of the national poet of Scotland.
Condition
In the publisher's original quarter calf bindings, with cloth covered boards. Light rubbing to front joints of volumes I, II and X and rear joint of volume IX. Minor discolouration to back strips, otherwise externally excellent. Small instance of worming to head of front pastedown, front free endpaper and half title of volume IV. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
