These journals record his last journey to the South Pole with chapters on stormy seas, settling in, excursions, preparations for journeys, the summit to the pole, and the last march. With a biographical introduction from Sir James Matthew Barrie, a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan. Preface by Sir Clements Robert Markham, an English geographer, explorer and writer.
Condition
In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light age toning to the extremities. School prize bookplate to the front pastedown.
